Have you heard the term macronutrient before? Probably like the majority of the population, you were instantly confused. So let’s clear some things up for you and break down macronutrients. In the end, I’d like to give you some simple actionable steps that you can take today.

According to inner-body,

“Carbohydrates, fats and proteins are macronutrients. We require them in relatively large amounts for normal function and good health. These are also energy-yielding nutrients, meaning these nutrients provide calories”.

How often do you hear someone say, “I am eating too many carbs.” To be honest, carbohydrates are complex, and instead of breaking down the science behind it, I want you to focus in on the quality of the foods you consume. This goes for everything, fats, fibre’s etc.

Here are some examples of some great fibres you can add to your immediately

  1. Beans
  2. Lentils
  3. Pears
  4. Raspberries

Here are some examples of some great proteins you can add to you immediately:

  1. Poultry
  2. Broccoli
  3. Peanut Butter

So in the end when you see the word “macro-nutrient” remember that it can encompass various facets of your diet. Start focusing in on the quality of these macronutrients today. I would like for you to do the following:

  • Create a meal with the top macronutrients: (i.e. Proteins, Fibres, Carbohydrates, etc).
  • Buy the ingredients and cook the meal.
